Moong Dal Halwa





Mung Dal or Moong Dal the halwa made from this lentil is one of the greatest one, this is one of the reasons that why one finds this halwa in all marriage parties. This rich, delicious dessert has an unusual main ingredient, normally associated with savory dishes - lentils, one always thinks that the main ingredient of this desserts is Moong Dal but one must note that beyond Moong Dal, Pure Desi Ghee is the main ingredient and one should avoid making this recipe if there is no Ghee Available.




Ingredients:-




  1. 100 gms Moong Dal


  2. 200 gms Ghee


  3. 100 gms Sugar


  4. 1/2 glass Water


  5. 10 pieces Badam


  6. 5 pieces Pista


  7. 4-5 Currants



Preparation:



  • Soak moong dal for two hours and then grind it and keep aside.

  • Heat ghee in a pan and put the moong dal in it.

  • Saute on low flame till it turns golden brown and leaves a distinct aroma.

  • Remove from the flame and set aside.

  • Heat water in a pan, add sugar and boil the mixture till sugar melts.

  • Put the moong dal mixture in this sugar syrup and cook on a low flame till the dal and sugar blends well.

  • Remove moong dal ka halwa from the flame and decorate it with chopped dry fruits.

  • Serve only in hot condition.
